40 Days of moving

I had a checklist for the weekend. I scheduled in my fun stuff as well as my packing stuff.

Yet now that it is Monday, and I look at my weekend check list, the only things checked off are the fun things.

I didn’t get much done. I did get a total of 6 boxes of books packed.

This did NOT make a dent in my book collection. Although one bookshelf IS starting to look a little bare.

So that means I’ll have to focus on it during the week. I have to be ready to move on to next weekend’s check list on Friday.

I may not have enough boxes. But at least I know a person who owns a book store. She is keeping book boxes for me. Which is perfect. The maximum sized box to pack books without becoming too heavy.

I am stronger than I look. I’m used to moving book boxes. But some people don’t realize just how heavy a box of paper can get. They use boxes a little too big and regret it.

I also was supposed to sort clothing. That was not touched. Books or clothes? What to do tonight? Clothes could be easier, but the tubs take up more room than the book boxes.

I go to help with the roommates moving on Friday. I’ll have a lot more boxes after that. It will be a good thing.

In the meantime, I’ll try to clean out my car so I can fill it with the boxes I have ready to go. That will free up some space for more box stacking later on.

I probably shouldn’t have watched seasons one and two of a cool anime show back to back all weekend. It wasn’t so bad on Saturday. I watched an episode, I packed a box. I watched an episode, I reorganized. I repeated that pattern for 6 boxes.

It was Sunday that got me. Over slept. Went for a long walk. Took a hot bath. Watched shows while eating lunch. Then alergies kicked in and I didn’t want to move the rest of the day.

I have to get a move on it. I have to stop worrying about getting to far ahead to early. The result was getting behind at the very start. I want it to be kept in balance.

Thursday Inconveniences or The Simple Things That Make Life Better

People walking past my desk will be treated to more unusual sight than normal.  The will see me sniffing a bag of tea.

Technically, it is not tea.  It is pure peppermint leaves.

I left my lip balm and my decongestant at home.  I was certain I picked them up and tossed them in the work bag.  But they are not there so they must be on a counter or dresser or the table.  Someplace I might of set them down while getting my stuff together this morning.

I have been having a terrible time breathing yesterday and today.  But not all is lost.  I have a box of Stash Peppermint Herbal Tea.  To get relief, for my nose at least, I can hold a bag up to my nose and breathe through it until the side that is blocked starts to ease up some.

This will not help my dry lips.  That will have to wait another entire hour before I can get to the drug store to buy another tube of lip balm.  And then life will be good again.

Or at least par for the course.

The Taste of Dirty Socks in the Morning

No, I wasn’t drinking.  This is not a hangover induced bad taste.

Fall is officially here.  In reality it arrived a week ago.  The rain washes the pollens and allergens out of the air.  All the allergy sufferers hold our breaths for the first really hard frost that kills almost everything from outdoors that affects us.

But the past week has been a strange one.  My allergy afflicted friends have been having it worse.  I’ve had to pull out the nasal spray again and buy cough drops again.  Several sneezing fits have interrupted me at various points every day.

Still, I have to say that I have been somewhat lucky.  No intense sinus headaches when I wake up.  I’ve been able to breath for the most part with only minimal assistance from the drug cabinet.  I’m not sneezing until my bladder fails.

Even today it wouldn’t have been bad but for two things.  One is a runny nose that won’t stop and the other is waking up with a bad taste in the back of my throat.  It tastes like I ate dirty socks all night long.  Not that I would know what that tastes like.  It is interesting how the brain can interpret smells and tastes as things we have never actually smelled or tasted.

Three lawyers just came up to the front desk.  At least two had too much aftershave on.  Different aftershave.  Two types of aftershave that a person should not have to smell at the same time.

Which strangely brings me to the reason I think my sinuses bothered me all last night and drained all night, leaving such a foul task in my mouth.  The bathroom light went out and I don’t have a spare at the moment.  I used the three bulbs I bought last weekend in other lights and lamps.  So I took a bath by candle light.  Seven candles to be exact.  I needed enough light to read by.   Most of them were scented candles.  Different scents.  I had to close the door to keep the cats away from the candles and I had the fan on to try to pull out some of the conflicting scents.

With sensitive sinuses, I’m sure this was more than enough to produce the taste of dirty socks first thing in the morning.
