Hunger and Diabetes

I had my followup Monday.

My A1C jumped up to 7.8 and the doctor thought checking my sugar levels once a day would help. That day was good but every day since has been bad. This morning was good though. The nurse said it is still pre-diabetes but their mission focus is shifting to more preventative medicine so they are treating it more aggressively as they would if it was full-on diabetes.

I didn’t really start until today (I was reading the folder of stuff and looking up other things even thought I’ve done a fair amount of research online already) , but I’m trying to stay to a 1500 cal and burn 250. I’ve had my 270 calorie b-fast w/ a 100 calorie sugar-free vanilla coco. All I can think about is how hungry I am and how long it is until 12:00 when I can have my lunch. If I don’t get that 250 cal activity in, I can only have 1250 calories. I’m so hungry I have to get it in. That way I can have a snack because I really need to have a little more. Or learn to get used to feeling this dang hungry all the time. I hate it.

And let me tell you, sticking my finger and seeing those really high glucose levels it really helping me focus on trying NOT to snack and over eat. What I eat isn’t the problem. It is eating too much that seems to be the issue.

It is the constant hunger that gets to me.  There doesn’t seem to be much that can be done about that.  Will power is all well and good, but there isn’t a whole lot when you feel so hungry that every waking thought it about food.

Mile Markers and Obligations

I am told that there is this obligatory, “I’ve hit some mile marker and must post random stats,” blog one must do.  Since I didn’t do it at 100 I’m supposed to do it now that I hit 150.

I started this in 2010 but couldn’t really get into the swing of it until a few months back and now seem to be going like gangbusters. I usually post daily. I occasionally miss a day, but that is made up by the fact that some days I post extra posts.  There are days that just trigger more thoughts that want to be blogged than others.

And yes, it is the thoughts themselves that sometimes want to be blogged.  Sometimes, they are like characters in a story you are working on that really want your attention and really want to do something or other you didn’t plan.

This morning, when I collected my data, some of which has changed now, I only had 1704 all time views.  But most of it was since earlier this year.  I’ve not been Freshly Pressed and actually would be shocked if that ever happened.  So I’m not overly worried about it.  I don’t need to be the person with the most friends or the most followers to be happy.

My busiest day was 4-12-12.  I posted two blogs and I think I reposted one.  I couldn’t tell when I looked at the stats today, but if I remember correctly, the most viewed blog that day was one I had posted a day or three before.

When I look at the most common search terms that led people to my blog, all of the ones tied for first place contain “TARDIS”.  Go figure.

The top countries for visits are not too surprising.

  1. USA
  2. Canada
  3. United Kingdom

Given the most common search word, this should have been expected.

Some countries kind of surprised me:Pakistan,RepublicofKorea,United Arab Emirates,Kenya,Singapore,Malaysia,Saudi Arabia,Ghana,Ecuador,Chile,Serbia, and theUkraine.

The most viewed page is Homepage/Archives.  Should I even count that?  Number two is Tardis and Creativity.  Number three is The Void – a Rift in the Space Time Continuum.

I have no idea how to hide a link under a word.  If I did, I would do that.  To make it easier to find for people who might have missed them. So I will do it the messy way.

I’m not sure why this is obligatory.  I’m not sure that any of it means anything to anyone other than me.  But here it is for your viewing pleasure.

The Frustration of Forgetfulness.

You have a good topic idea at work and the phone rings before you can write it down.  You record the call data, grab your thoughts notebook that sits beside your work notebook, and you have totally forgotten the topic.

You are driving home and thinking about the blog you want to write when you get there.  In fact, you manage compose the entire thing in your head.  You even rework it a bit.  Then someone nearly causes an accident in front of you and you get home, fuming about the stupid drivers, and realize you remember nothing about the amazing blog you just mentally wrote.

You sit down and write out a line or two of a new blog when the cat leaps onto your desk and misses.  This results in the falling cat plunging claws into your leg, arm, chest or whichever part of your body is handy in order to stop the fall.  (I have a glass topped desk that tends to cause more than a few falls for the cats)  After you scream bloody murder, terrify the cats and probably the neighbors, get up and clean the wounds, cover them with New Skin, scream again from the brief but intense stinging of the product, you then try to get back to what you were writing.  You look at your first one or two lines and have no idea where you were going with them.

Or maybe I just have a piss poor memory because I crammed it to full of books I’ve read, shows I’ve watched, and strange, random, but utterly useless facts that just seem to stick to the brain like they were attached with gorilla glue.
